Vinyl is a medium for listening, enjoying, sharing. It is also inherently a medium for collecting. Records can be something we desire, to add an LP or 7” to our collection for the sake of possessing the item.

But do any of us really possess music? Can any of us truly “own” it? If we add a record to our collection, what life does it take on? Will it idle on a shelf, a prized possession referenced more often for its monetary value than for its musical expression? Or will it be celebrated, loved, shared, and played?

Records should be played.
