About

Music from Hawaii, past and present. Since its evolution from a blog into record label, Aloha Got Soul has committed itself to searching every corner of Hawaii for the best music regardless of genre or generation. The blog launched in August 2010 with a focus on 1970s and 80s jazz, funk, soul and R&B music from the islands. In 2015, we started our record label. In 2021, we opened a brick-and-mortar record store in Honolulu.

Artist Feedback

"From the minute I met Roger Bong (Aloha Got Soul), I knew that this young man was excited about two things. The first was getting classic records back in circulation. The second was to "Go Vinyl." He has successfully done both of these and now has a record shop in Honolulu with a focus on vinyl. I am totally amazed how he has turned his projects into profit. In my dealing with Roger he has been straight up and pays royalties on time. If you are looking for a musical partner you can count on check out what Roger is doing."
— Dennis Soares, owner, Elation Records (From These Shores)

“I have worked with Roger and the rest of the crew at AGS for about 5 years now in collaboration with Kalapana and my father Mackey Feary’s solo released music. I can honestly say that I have nothing but the utmost respect and love for them for their professionalism and humble respect they have shown not only me but my family and the band. Their handling of re-releasing original works on vinyl and being our source for Original Merchandise of Kalapana Music has truly been a blessing and I would recommend working with the team at Aloha Got Soul to any artist I cross paths with. Mahalo for everything!”
— Sebastian Feary, son of late Mackey Feary (lead singer/songwriter of Kalapana)

"We had a great experience collaborating with Aloha Got Soul for the vinyl release of Don Tiki—Hot Like Lava. Roger Bong was a true partner and made it fun by giving us complete creative control of the project from the selection of tracks to the 3-D album cover artwork. AGS took great care of the entire process and paid attention to ALL of the details with integrity."
— Lloyd “Fluid Floyd” Kandell, producer, Don Tiki / Taboo Inc.

"Aloha, this is Marvin Franklin from Kimo and the Guys from the Homegrown III LP with the song Kona Winds, Roger Bong from Aloha Got Soul has breath new life into our creation. We are inspired by the professionalism this local company represents. I’m overjoyed with my association with the album and thanks to Aloha Got Soul maybe you will too!"
— Marvin Franklin, creator of the song "Kona Winds"
