A look at our on-the-ground presence in Honolulu over the years

Earlier this summer, we opened AGS Honolulu after realizing it was time to finally get an office, and then discovering the perfect spot on King Street and McCully (big shoutout to Dean Song of MŌNO Hawaii for the support!). We quickly realized we could work here and maintain a small retail space at the same time. We opened the doors in June 2021. Photo by Mark Kushimi from a few weeks ago.

Back in 2017, we popped up at the Hawaii Record Fair, hosted by Hungry Ear Records. The label had a few solid releases under its belt by then, including a couple of collaborations — namely the Aloha Got Soul compilation with Strut Records and the Nohelani Cypriano reissue with Be With Records. We were proud to have a small feature in Wax Poetics the year prior; a copy of that issue can be seen on the table. A Wax Po writeup was @rogerbong’s dream goal when he first started the blog back in 2010. We’re almost certain this 2017 photo was taken by Mary Moran.

And five years ago, 2016, again at the Hawaii Record Fair — but this time when it was still held in the McKinley High School cafeteria. Both Mike Lundy and Oliver Seguin helped us at the table. We also made some new friends that day. If we recall correctly, this was our first pop-up ever...? Photo by Dennie Chong.
