Nick Kurosawa - Home (AGS-004-R)
2021 repress, cut at 45 RPM.
Home is the six-song debut EP from O‘ahu-born Nick Kurosawa, features the artist's timeless originals alongside influential classics by Bobby Caldwell, Sam Cooke, and Kalapana.
Upon initial release in 2018, Home heralded international attention for the young soul singer Nick Kurosawa, whose vocal prowess and lyricism have left a powerful impact on listeners in Japan, London, and throughout the Hawaiian Islands. A future classic for the label, and an inspired stepping stone for a gifted artist like Kurosawa.
Three years later, Kurosawa's debut EP stands as an inspired stepping stone for a promising artist who roots himself in tradition in searching for where his voice and spirit feel most at home. For the label Aloha Got Soul, the debut represents another step forward in the label's continuing evolution to represent progressive and relatively unknown music of Hawai‘i — regardless of generation or genre.
To bring the release full circle with the label's output to date, Kit Ebersbach engineered the recording and mixdowns. Ebersbach's first sessions were on the cult LPs from Lemuria, Babadu and Tender Leaf.
Recorded and Mixed by Kit Ebersbach and Max Ebersbach at Pacific Music Productions on February 1, 2018.
Note: two takes of each song were recorded in the session, with vocals and acoustic guitar or hollow body electric guitar, live in the room.
