The hope for every project on the Aloha Got Soul label is to create a lasting document of timeless music that reaches a new crop of listeners in Hawaii and the world. For a place like Hawaii, so isolated from the rest of the world, it is invaluable to create an exchange of knowledge and ideas between these islands and distant destinations.

Hawaii's oldest record shop is temporarily closing its doors as it finds a new home in Honolulu.

Aloha Got Soul is now a record label, focusing on quality reissues of rare and relatively unknown Hawaiian soul, funk, rare groove and beyond.

While I've been busy *not* updating the blog here, (sorry, folks!) I've been juggling a handful of other projects. Firstly, I've been prepping for the forthcoming Aloha Got Soul record label—which tentatively launches by year's end with the label's first release, a 7-inch single by Mike Lundy. The music's been mastered and went to the vinyl manufacturer last week, logo design is done, but there are still a few things left to take care of. Packaging, distribution, and likely a redesign of this website to accompany the label launch. Oh, and t-shirts. Gotta get some t-shirts printed up. Logo sketches...

Like what I do here? My mission is to share 1970s and 1980s Hawaiian funk/soul/jazz music with the world, but sometimes I don't have more than a moment to post something worthwhile. That's why Aloha Got Soul is on Twitter and Facebook. These social platforms let me share my thoughts with fans of Aloha Got Soul, whether I'm at the record store digging for Hawaiian LPs or kickin' it with fellow music lovers @lightsleepers.
