I suppose I didn't anticipate working from 9am to 9pm every day on this project. One of the most important things is the power of connecting with people. We created deep relationships between people who were worlds apart, but now here in Hawaii working passionately on this documentary film. I am forever changed because of this.

The year has come and gone quickly, but not without bringing some incredible opportunities to the table. As the end of 2016 draws closer, I'm sending this note to express my gratitude for the supporters, collaborators and believers who have helped Aloha Got Soul grow organically and steadily throughout the year.

I feel like there are really just too many ways to tell you about this two year anniversary of Soul Time In Hawaii, which was actually more than just an anniversary — it was a week-long celebration of a humble party that's grown to connect the dots across decades and time zones. In 2014, Soul Time represented an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded people on the other side of the globe. When paired with photos from the evening, DJ Notoya's recording transports the listener to Soul Time In Hawaii. Together they recreate an authentic, nostalgic experience of what this monthly all-vinyl event in Honolulu is like. Even though the sound quality is far from perfect, it perfectly captures more than a mix ever could.

On March 26, 2015, Aloha Got Soul celebrated the one-year anniversary of Soul Time In Hawaii, our monthly all-vinyl party right here in Honolulu. To celebrate, we played 100% Hawaiian vinyl all night: 8 hours straight.
