As I mentioned earlier, the Hawaii Record Fair was a complete success. Music collectors from all over the island gathered to dig up long-time wants and new discoveries. Hell, some of the attendants didn't even own a turntable, but they still showed up to buy some vinyl! (This is 100% true, trust me.) One of the highlights of the event was the Aloha Got Soul door prize giveaway. Emcee Hector Elpe drew a raffle ticket at random and selected a lucky number. The winner? Has anyone been to the new Harry's Music Store location at 3270 Waialae Ave? After 6 months of being closed, Harry's Music Store is finally open.

Every year, hundreds of books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl LPs and 7-inch singles fill the cafeteria at the Friends of the Library of Hawaii's Annual McKinley Booksale, attracting thousands of book lovers and music collectors to the Honolulu high school grounds. It's a blessing to spend time with fellow diggers at an event like this, talking records, comparing finds, and watching the crowd buzz about with books tucked under their arms because their handtrucks are packed full. Good times.
